Rare vintage AMW Acoustic Labs A340 speakers

For sale is a set of rare vintage, unmolested, AMW Acoustic Labs A340 3-way stand-mount speakers. 

It is my understanding that AMW came about after the ABC contracted Australian designers to design, build and supply speaker monitors for the ABC recording studios in NSW. AMW sourced the best components worldwide from various manufactures available at the time. These speakers are from around 1975.

The build quality and components used in these are impressive. The cabinets are manufactured from 18mm double veneered Australian walnut and dampened with 12mm bitumen impregnated fibre-board. The front baffle is made from very rigid 21mm oak plywood. The crossovers use large, high power air type inductors, and the tweeters and mid-drivers each have their own internal enclosures. 

Most importantly, these sound amazing, and well beyond their size and price point. Well balanced with great clarity, bass and openness. 

The bass drivers have new surrounds by the Speaker Doctor.

These would have been a significantly expensive speaker in the day had they been imported.

The speaker cabinets are in excellent and completely original condition with some minor cosmetic imperfections. Included are the grills that are functional, but after nearly 50 years the cloth may suit replacing.
