The Luxman D06u SACD/CD Digital Player is renowned for it's smooth, transparent, and dynamic presentation & is the best digital source I have ever had. This unit is in immaculate condition, with not a mark I can detect anywhere.
This is a 100 volt unit, and I will include my high grade transformer in this sale, worth over $120.
The original remote doesn’t function, but will be supplied. When the remote died, I had a custom remote built to order that duplicates all the functions of the original & it works a treat. That’s the only issue I’ve ever had & it performs flawlessly, sounds amazing & is built like the proverbial tank.
Buyer to arrange & pay shipping costs, however happy to drop off to Pack & Send or deliver to Brisbane or the Sunshine Coast.
Description:
The D-06u has been painstakingly designed to make the most of both CDs and SACDs, whilst also offering coaxial, optical and asynchronous USB inputs for external digital sources, thus enabling them to benefit from the players exemplary digital and analogue output circuitry. For disc playback, the LxDTM transport mechanism is a proprietary Luxman creation, a high-rigidity design constructed to block out external vibrations, with a die-cast aluminium loader for smooth, quiet, resonance-free operation.
The players digital circuits incorporate a Burr-Brown PCM1792A D/A converter, supporting not only CD and SACD playback, but also PCM data up to 32-bit/384kHz and DSD data up to 5.64MHz via the USB input. This is a far higher specification than that required by most current music formats, ensuring the D-06u is fully equipped for future advances in ultra-high-definition digital sound.
The D/A converter chip combines with Texas Instruments TAS3152 32-bit digital signal processor, which upsamples PCM data to 384kHz and supplies three digital filter options for PCM, plus a pair of tone settings for DSD. Jitter (digital distortion) is reduced in three ways: for USB signals, by the dedicated DSP via asynchronous communication; for CD and S/PDIF signals, by the embedded DAIR high-precision clock; and for SACD signals, by a dedicated jitter reduction chip. In addition, a low phase noise clock module improves the accuracy of the entire signal transmission.
The D-06us analogue output stage is of the highest quality, utilising audiophile-grade components in a fully balanced configuration with a regulated, high-inertia power supply. Build quality is exemplary, as it is throughout the Luxman range, right down to the cast-iron, resonance-reducing feet.
REVIEW FROM STEREOPHILE:
Conclusions
The Luxman D-06u delivered, overall, the best sound and most reliably high level of involvement I've enjoyed in my home from SACDs. And if it wasn't the most accomplished player of my experience of "Red Book" CDs, it was surely in the top five.
And there it is: For less than the combined prices of a top-shelf cartridge and similarly capable turntable, tonearm, and phono preamplifier, the Luxman D-06u seems capable of transforming my secondary music collection (digital discs and files) into something far more deserving of comparison with my primary music collection (LPs and 78s). Given that, and the Luxman's apparently greater-than-average immunity to the obsolescence of its disc transport and data conversion, the D-06u impresses me as one of the most recommendable digital sources at its price.
