Reason for Selling
I'm going for new gear now in a smaller home, they are no longer suitable.
For sale:
This is an original pair of Leak Sandwich 200 three way speakers in very good condition, not mint, but very good. This is a genuine three way system, not two tweeters, one is used for the midrange.
These are a matched pair, as you can see by the serial numbers.
All drivers are perfect, as is the metal trim around the front panel. The grill cloth is almost spot on, other than some minor wear on the corners, to be expected for the age.
The rear panel has the original DIN output plus binding posts, possibly added later, but it does make them a little more versatile.
The woodwork is lovely, some very minor wear on the rear corners, again to be expected for the years of use.
By the way they sound, they have not been abused by the previous owner, I'm only the second owner of them and have played them only to check that they were running well and there was no sound of old capacitors shrieking in the treble. They don't.
This pair have not been recapped, I bought them to use, but have moved to a smaller home with other gear and just want something different.
I have cleaned them and given the cabinets a good dose of wood restorer and they have come up very nicely.
There are two small holes in the rear panels where the previous owner had mounted a wire strap for a wall. I've removed the strap but will leave any filling if desired by a new owner. I don't want to fuss around to match the black paint.
Pickup from Meningie is preferred, although I have them already boxed to be shipped, a previous interstate buyer changed his mind.
Since I have them both packed ready to ship, I will sell them at $350 including shipping costs and insurance - they are close to $49/carton.

User reviews and community discussions on the Leak Sandwich 200 Standmount Loudspeakers are limited, with most feedback focusing on the closely related Sandwich 250 and 150 models, which share the signature aluminum-skinned "Sandwich" cone design for mids and bass; direct mentions of the 200 are scarce but highlight its light, stiff construction.
### Sound Quality
- Described as neutral (neither warm nor cool), with strong performance in vocals, clarity, immediacy, and transient response due to the stiff Sandwich cones that minimize breakup and IMD.
- Bass benefits from rear-ported design and boundary reinforcement when placed near walls or floors, but elevating on stands alters bass and may make it sound leaner or more pinpoint/accurate.
- Performs best with quality amplification (e.g., Yamaha A-S2000, McIntosh, or Emotiva); lesser amps like Cambridge limit potential, while strong ones "elevate" detail and dynamics.
- Some vintage Sandwich models (not modern) were called dreadful, but current versions are praised as superior.
### Build Quality
- Modern builds exceed 1960s/70s originals, with superior screws, finishes (e.g., walnut veneer on related models), and the lightweight, rigid aluminum-foam Sandwich drivers—famously stiff enough for demos like standing on cones.
- Compact standmount form (similar to 250/150) prioritizes heritage aesthetics over tower conversion.
### Reliability
- No direct complaints in reviews; focus is on design durability from stiff materials, with no reports of failures.
### Strengths
- Neutral, detailed sound with excellent vocals and transients; outperforms some comparably priced floorstanders in standmount form.
- Heritage-inspired stiffness for low distortion; higher sensitivity aids louder playback.
- Versatile placement near boundaries enhances bass.
### Weaknesses
- Amp-sensitive: Needs robust power (25-100W, 6-ohm) to shine; underpowered setups underwhelm.
- Rear port limits stand use without bass changes; may sound forward/bright vs. competitors.
- Limited off-axis data and user testing; manufacturer measurements may be optimized.
### Overall Reputation
Positive among modern audiophiles for reviving Leak's legacy with neutral, capable performance at ~$3,000 (for 250), though success hinges on setup and amplification; vintage fans are passionate but note improvements over originals. Discussions emphasize it as a "vibe" with strong build, but real-world reviews remain emerging.

The Leak Sandwich 200 Standmount Loudspeakers do not appear in current Australian market listings or recent user-reported prices within the provided search results, which primarily reference the similar Leak Sandwich 250 model and vintage 1960s-1970s Leak "Mini Sandwich" speakers.
For the closely related Leak Sandwich 250 (new condition), current Australian retail pricing at The Audio Tailor shows a typical range of AU$2,399 to AU$4,799, with original MSRP up to AU$5,699 but active discounts bringing it as low as AU$2,399 (1+ in stock).
No used market data, user-reported sales, or specific Sandwich 200 listings were found in Australian sources like StereoNET classifieds. Prices for new Leak standmounts vary significantly by condition (new units command full retail or discounted prices; used/vintage Leak Sandwich models from the 1960s-70s, if available, would likely trade much lower based on historical context but lack recent comps).
Key factors affecting value:
- Model variant: Sandwich 250 listings dominate; Sandwich 200 may be rarer or discontinued, potentially lowering liquidity.
- Condition: New/discount vs. used (cosmetic wear, driver integrity, original cabinets).
- Retailer promotions: Discounts evident (e.g., ~50% off MSRP on Sandwich 250).
- Market scarcity: Limited Leak listings overall in Australia; vintage appeal boosts collector value but no recent sales data.
Conservative fair market estimate for Leak Sandwich 200: AU$2,000–AU$4,500 (new/open-box, inferred from Sandwich 250 comps), with used potentially 40-60% lower (AU$1,000–AU$2,500) absent direct evidence—verify via local classifieds like StereoNET or eBay AU for latest transactions.
