This is Cambridge Audio's best and most powerful AV Receiver, it was also the last AV Receiver they ever made and a true Audiophile grade unit at that.
If you are an audio quality first person like I am there is not many AV Receivers around that output this kind of power and sound quality. Unfortunately since moving house and rooms I have needed to rely on Dirac to improve the sound of my room, in my last home I never did and this unit was all I needed to enjoy high quality surround sound.
I have kept this thinking it would be great for a second system but the reality is I probably will never need one, even if you used it as a 2ch stereo amp its cap[able of Spotify and Tidal connect so really is built for music as well as Home theatre.
I remember speaking with the guys at Synergy Audio before buying this and they said they had it running in thier showroom with Sonus Faber speakers and they were amazed at the sound quality. The grunt in this unit would put many 2ch amps to shame:
- 170 watts per channel into 8 ohms (1k Hz) at 0.006% THD, with 2 channels driven
- 120 watts per channel into 8 ohms (1k Hz) at 0.006% THD, with 7 channels driven
This thing is heavy dues to the Toroidal Transformer and thick brushed aluminium faceplate.
The unit is fully functioning and has never let me down. The only two blemishes I can see is a small scratch on the faceplate and two layers of the front screen have stuck together which appear darker than the rest, the illumination of the screen itself is perfect though.
Comes with all original accessories and packaging so can be easily shipped anywhere across Australia, estimated cost via Sendle is $50 (TBC)
